Meet Our Adoption Counselors

Geralyn Ryan, LCSW
Geralyn is a licensed clinical social worker and has been working in pregnancy and adoption work since 1999 for the agency. She is also an “Understanding Infant Adoption” trainer since 2002. She has been part of a nationwide endeavor since then to encourage and support greater knowledge and understanding of accurate adoption information to those who provide pregnancy counseling and care to women in unplanned pregnancies. Geralyn is the director of the Caring Choices pregnancy program and the Adoption program for the Diocese of St. Augustine and works directly with adoptive families who are wanting to adopt.

Melissa Anderson, MSW
Melissa has Masters in Social Work and started working with Catholic Charities in 2016, after completing her internship with the agency. Prior to working with the adoption team, she worked for 10 years in the social service field as a contract worker for the Department of Children and Families as well as a substance abuse counselor.
Susan Schlindwein, MSW
Susie Schlindwein has been working in pregnancy and adoption for the agency since 2019. She has her Master’s Degree in Social Work as well as a certification in Child Welfare and Maltreatment. Prior to working with Catholic Charities, she spent a year in the Polk County schools providing counseling to children and families. She has had a desire to work in adoptions for as long as she can remember, and is driven by that passion for Birth mothers and children.
